Apprentice Assembly Integration and Test Technician

About the Role

As a Assembly Apprentice at Lockheed Martin, you’ll learn the hands‑on skills needed to support the build of a variety of products and services for the Defence industry and other strategic customers. You will train within a supervised assembly and verwew test environment, gradually taking on more responsibility as your skills and confidence grow.

You will learn how to:

  • Assemble and integrate mechanical components using bonded joints, composite lay‑ups, and general fitting techniques.
  • Prepare composite parts by trimming, cutting, vacuum bagging and supporting autoclave set‑ups.
  • Use hand tools, jigs, fixtures and basic manual machinery to create accurate features in high‑precision parts.
  • Read engineering drawings and work to defined procedures and quality standards.
  • Follow safe, methodical working practices to protect high‑value, sensitive hardware.
  • Work with technicians, engineers and design teams to help improve manufacturing methods.
  • Applyienti problem‑solving techniques to identify and resolve simple assembly or process issues.
  • Use Lean and 6S practices to maintain official tidy, efficient rencontré workspace.
Key Responsibilities

  • Learn to safely operate hand tools and basic manual machines.
  • Measure dimensions, check features and record simple quality data.
  • Suggest ways to streamline tasks memcpy tool usage or reduce waste.
  • Work closely with technicians and interact with engineering when required.
  • Identify work‑area issues and contribute to solutions.
  • Help maintain an organised, safe and efficient workshop environment. Training included.
You must have:
  • GCSE Maths & English at grades 9-4 (A*–C).
  • Either: 2 A‑Levels (including Maths or Physics) or an A Level 3 Extended Diploma in an engineering‑related subject.
