Job description

Overview: To assist the CCP Strategic Manager in the co-ordination and administration of Culmore Community Partnership Organic Allotments. This post has been funded by LFT Trust for one year. The Culmore Community Partnership Organic Allotments Project aims to promote health and wellbeing, reduce social isolation, and empower residents to grow their own healthy, organic produce in an inclusive, supported community space. We will open the Organic Allotment site at Woodlands Avenue, Culmore in Autumn 2025. We require an on-site Allotment Co-ordinator who will provide practical support, training, and encouragement for participants, including those with disabilities, long-term illness, and other vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Site Coordination: Manage the day-to-day operations of the allotments, ensuring the site is safe, well-maintained, and aligned with organic growing principles.
  • Community Engagement: Encourage local residents, schools, and community groups to participate in allotment activities. Support inclusion, social connection, and volunteering opportunities for a wide range of participants.
  • Organic Horticultural Support: Provide guidance to plot holders on organic gardening practices, including seasonal planting, composting, and environmentally friendly pest control.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience in horticulture, ideally with knowledge of organic methods.
  • Experience of working with the community or in a community development setting.
  • Horticultural qualification or equivalent training.
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations and remain calm under pressure.
