Job summary

A leading aerospace company is seeking an experienced B1 Aircraft Mechanic in the UK. You will perform maintenance activities, ensuring safety and quality standards are upheld. Qualifications

Job description

Our client have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, self-motivated B1 Aircraft Mechanic to join their dynamic team, using your experience within the aircraft engineering environment for all maintenance activities, including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in response to our customers' requirements.

Under the direction of your supervisor, you will be responsible for completing tasks in accordance with Part 145 maintenance requirements, internal processes and procedures, and our customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Putting safety and quality first, you will ensure adherence to Health & Safety procedures whilst carrying out aircraft maintenance within the limits of company approvals. Whilst upholding the highest level of engineering standards and practices, you will assist in driving the team to deliver defect rectification and investigation, repair, overhaul and modifications.

Main Responsibilities will include:
  • Carrying out maintenance of aircraft as defined, using only correctly maintained and uniquely identified personal tooling and correct company tooling and calibrated test equipment
  • Under the direction of your supervisor, provide effective support of the aircraft maintenance and seek support if needed
  • Ensuring correct completion of all maintenance paperwork and forms in a timely manner before the end of the shift and in accordance with all aspects of the MOE Part 2 and procedures
  • Informing the Bay Manager / Engineer / Technician of any adverse issues affecting safety, productivity, and progression of work
  • Ensuring any unused material is correctly processed and returned to Stores when practical, following correct disposal instructions at all times.
  • Ensuring correct storage of aircraft components and tooling including blanking, labelling and protection in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintaining standard engineering practices regarding general husbandry, work place cleanliness and FOD prevention measures
  • Recommending to the Bay Manager / Engineer any improvements in working conditions, practices and procedures that may result in an improvement in safety, efficiency and productivity
  • Assisting with hangar facility maintenance and general tasks
  • Any other tasks and duties as reasonably required in accordance with the needs of the business
Key requirements include:
  • Must be eligible to live and work in the UK - Please note, this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship as it does not meet the salary threshold under the Skilled Worker route.
  • Proven track record, typically achieved with 3 years' minimum experience in aviation maintenance (including time served during an apprenticeship) within a Part 145 (or equivalent) organisation.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of aircraft system(s) and use recognised aircraft documentation.
  • Basic structural knowledge including repairs.
  • Recognised aeronautical training e.g. City & Guilds Level 3, BTEC Level 3, University Degree or Aeronautical Apprenticeship programme.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grade C or above including Maths and English Language.
  • Initial Human Factors, EWIS & Fuel Tank Safety.
