Pedigree; When it comes to MGAs, this one is a purebred – owned by a global broking giant, with capacity provided by one of the largest composite insurers in the world, it’s little wonder it can offer a ‘best-in-class’ service to its discerning clientele.

Already commanding a significant portion of the Agricultural / Farm insurance market, this dynamic business is committing considerable resource (financial and otherwise) to increase its market share further.

In this varied role, you will be dealing with both renewal and new business, with clients coming from its own broking business as well as third-party brokers. This role can be home-based at any location across the UK, and you will be allocated a panel of brokers in your area.

You will be dealing with a variety of bespoke products that are geared to the Agricultural market, such as Farm Combined, Property, Liability, and specialist products.

As an Agricultural Development Underwriter, you’ll dive into a diverse array of underwriting activities and broker development. You’ll be at the forefront of executing the company strategy, playing a pivotal role in achieving its financial goals, while delivering exceptional customer service.

Your expertise will shine as you manage key Agricultural broker accounts, ensuring they receive top-notch service and support.

Duties
  • Contributing to and implementing underwriting strategy across all products, aligning with established risk appetite.
  • Holding the pen, you will underwrite profitable new and renewal business, both remotely and whilst attending brokers’ offices.
  • Directly impacting financial KPIs by balancing revenue growth with underwriting profitability.
  • Upholding service standards on all authorised products, ensuring Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) is woven into your approach at all times.
  • Analysing distribution trends and broker behaviours to inform future strategies.
  • Building meaningful, mutually beneficial relationships with inhouse and 3rd party brokers.
  • Managing quality assurance and peer reviews to identify opportunities for underwriting and product improvements.
  • Keeping abreast of market trends and developments in your industry segments, building strong relationships with capacity partners.

We are keen to hear from Development Underwriters or Farm Underwriters who enjoy trading, as well as Agricultural Insurance Brokers who are keen to make a move over to an MGA environment. Alongside a trader’s mentality, it is essential that you have some knowledge of Agricultural insurance, combined with a good understanding of the unique risks faced by those who live and work in the countryside. You must also have excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively manage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You will have good numeracy and IT skills, as well as being well-organised with excellent task-management skills.

In return, you will receive a generous basic salary, bonus and a comprehensive benefits package that includes a market-leading pension arrangement. As this is a highly visible role, where your successes will be obvious to the Senior Management Team, you will also benefit from a myriad of opportunities for progression in the short, medium and long-term.
