Job Title: Aerospace Design Engineer

Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

Compensation: £40,000 - £50,000 + Benefits

Role Type: Full time / Permanent

The role

As a Aerospace Design Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll become a valued member of our CAA-approved Aerospace Design Organisation, contributing to a wide variety of aircraft modification projects. This is your opportunity to make a real difference - designing solutions that keep aircraft safe, reliable, and mission-ready. You’ll play a key role in shaping the future of aviation, while developing your own skills and advancing your career in a dynamic, supportive environment.

Day-to-day you’ll be required to:

  • Create mechanical part, assembly, and installation drawings using SolidWorks, and/or electrical system and loom wiring diagrams using AutoCAD
  • Support production and installation engineers with design-related queries
  • Conduct aircraft surveys to define and refine design solutions
  • Ensure all designs comply with the Design Office Handbook (DOH) and relevant certification standards
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions

Essential experience of the Aerospace Design Engineer

  • Strong competence in mechanical and/or electrical design, including creation of detail drawings and engineering reports
  • Working knowledge of aerospace regulations or experience in other highly regulated industries (e.g., rail or nuclear)
  • Proficient in CAD (training on our systems provided)
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Qualifications for the Aerospace Design Engineer

  • Degree in a relevant engineering subject or equivalent experience in lieu of degree

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
