Advice and Guidance Officer - South East England

Location: Home-based UK

Salary: £31,720 - £39,650 per annum

The role

Our client is looking for an Advice and Guidance Officer who can make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with hearing impairments.

A key focus of this role will be delivering the service remotely using technology. In addition, you will use your interpersonal skills and experience working with families to connect with local community groups, raise awareness of our services, promote membership, and provide support to families, deaf young people, and professionals.

Applicants should live in the South East of England.

What you\'ll do
  • Deliver tailored information and advice to individuals and groups of people with hearing impairments.
  • Support the hearing impaired in becoming more confident in articulating their needs independently.
  • Help hearing impaired people, and their families explore their options and decide on a preferred course of action.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with professionals and organisations that support the hearing impaired.
  • Attend both in-person and online events to provide information and advice tailored to different audiences.
What you\'ll need
  • Significant experience and understanding of the skills and practices required to deliver person-centred support to children, young people, and their families.
  • Experience of providing information and advice to families and young people, both digitally and face-to-face.
  • A strong working knowledge of education and Additional Support Needs (ASN), including relevant legislation, government guidance, and local implementation.
  • An understanding of deafness and its impact on children, family dynamics, raising a deaf child, and child development, translating this into effective, child-centred practice.
  • Strong digital skills and a sound understanding of agile values and principles.
  • A criminal record check / DBS disclosure (if offered the position).
