Job summary

A healthcare provider in Lincoln County Hospital is seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner or Specialist BMS for a Dissection role. The position involves complex specimen dissection, training Biomedical Scientists, and ensuring UKAS accreditation. Qualifications

Overview

We welcome applications from experienced Advanced Practitioners and from Specialist BMSs with experience of dissection who aspire to develop into a Dissection role. The successful candidate will be supported in completing the IBMS DEP in Histology Dissection.

Applicants who prefer part‑time hours or who wish to arrange an informal visit will also be considered. Prior applicants will not be shortlisted. Previous applicants will not be shortlisted.

Responsibilities
  • Work within a team of Advanced Practitioner Biomedical Scientists to deliver complex specimen dissection, including category D and E samples, under the guidance of our Consultant Pathologist team.
  • Supervise specimen reception, manage the dissection area, and support the training of Band 5 & 6 Biomedical Scientists to dissect RCPath/IBMS category A to C samples.
  • Support the management team to deliver the Directorates Quality Management requirements and maintain continuous UKAS accreditation.
  • Take an active role in continuous improvement activities and service improvements using Lean management systems.
  • Fully support the seven‑day service delivery as a senior member of the team.

Opportunities & Working Conditions

The position is located at Lincoln County Hospital within a centralised Histopathology service that receives approximately 65,000 requests per annum. The laboratory provides an UKAS accredited service, including paraffin wax histology, diagnostic cytopathology, and whole slide imaging.
