An exciting opportunity has become available to become partof the Acute Intervention team as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
The applicant will need to be working at an advanced levelof practice, working autonomously in the assessment, diagnosis and managementof unspecified clinical conditions whilst providing operational leadership toBishop Auckland Hospital.
The post holder will work automously on a wardat Bishop Auckland hospital between 9am and 5pm, and be team leader for anyemergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The post also includes rotation ontoDarlington Memorial hospital and University of North Durham hospital sites toprovide further senior support on a Saturday and Sunday.
-To ensure the patient is at the centre, reinforcing theconcept of a streamlined patient journey and improving the quality of care.
-Working as an advanced nurse practitioner, providing aprompt response to calls from ward nursing staff, prioritising urgency andclinical need.
-Assessing, diagnosing and treating, investigating,prescribing, and determining immediate care management of patients
-Acting as team leader during medical emergencies andcardiac arrests and utilising an advanced knowledge base and advanced clinicalskills to manage patients in these situations.
-Providing highly visible nursing leadership and advising onoperational issues as they arise
-Making a significant contribution to patient flow throughthe organisation
-Acting as a patient safety and clinical quality champion,ensuring that services delivered to patients are safe and of a high quality.
-Provide specialist education and training. e.g.to ward nursing staff, nursing

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

-Liaise with colleagues in other areas of the trust toensure the smooth transfer of patients within the hospital(s).

-Ensure the patients rights, dignity and confidentiality areprotected at all times.
Planning and Organisational skills
-Organise own work on day-to-day basis

-Ensures the delivery of evidence based medical and nursingcare to patients.
This post demands highly developed physical skills where adegree of dexterity and precision are essential.
-Translate theory into the practical delivery of care, whichmay involve a range of practical tasks e.g.
- Venepuncture and Intravenous Cannulation.
- Prescribing and administering medications and fluids
- Physical assessment and diagnosis
- Recording and interpretation of a 12 lead E.C.G.
- Advanced airway skills.
