Job summary

NHS Professionals at Churchill Hospital in Oxford is seeking an Assistant Patient Pathway Administrator. You will perform front-desk reception, check patients in for appointments, and answer queries to help patients navigate local and national access targets.

You will support the Outpatient bookings team with referrals via the GP e-Referral system (ERS), register patients and arrange outpatient appointments while ensuring accurate patient details and timely processing.

Qualifications

  • Vocational Level 3 qualification or 2 years relevant experience.
  • Excellent communication and IT skills are essential.
  • NHS experience is desirable but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients at reception and handle queries.
  • Check patients in to appointments and manage the flow of admissions.
  • Support the outpatient bookings team with new referrals via ERS.

Job description

Job Title: Assistant Patient Pathway Administrator

Location: Churchill Hospital, OX3 7LE

Hours: 37.5 hours 8am - 4pm / 9am - 5pm - 3 days across Monday - Friday and Saturdays and Sundays 3 /4 weekends (Saturdays & Sundays paid at an enhanced rate)

Trust: Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Role type: Temporary for 3 months with possibility of becoming permanent

Duties required
  • Act as a first point of contact on reception to patients coming into the department.
  • Check patients in to their appointments and help them by answering any queries that they might have.
  • Work closely with the wider administrative team and clinical staff to ensure patients are admitted within local and national access targets, expediting appointments and procedures as required.
  • Assist the Outpatient bookings team with processing new referrals via the GP e-Referral system (ERS)
  • Registering patients
  • Making outpatient appointments and ensuring patient details are correct.

This role may require you to show evidence of vocational level 3 qualification or at least 2 years relevant experience.

You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust:
  1. 1. An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS
  2. 2. Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times
  3. 3. A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation
You’ll have the following skills/experience:
  • Ability to plan and organise work to meet deadlines.
  • Strong Computer Skills
  • Organised and have the ability to coordinate and prioritise own workload
  • Excellent communication skills
  • NHS experience (desirable)
