Job summary

NHS Professionals is inviting applications for an Assistant Patient Pathway Administrator at Churchill Hospital, Oxford. The role supports reception, patient registration, referrals, and outpatient scheduling within the NHS framework.

The temporary position lasts 3 months with a possibility of permanency, offering weekend shifts and an enhanced rate for weekend work. NHS experience and teamwork are valued for delivering timely patient access.

Qualifications

  • Vocational Level 3 qualification or at least 2 years relevant experience.
  • Understanding NHS roles and responsibilities.
  • Ability to work with clinical and administrative teams.

Responsibilities

  • Act as first point of contact on reception for patients entering the department.
  • Check patients in to their appointments and help them by answering queries.
  • Work with the wider administrative and clinical team to meet local and national access targets.
  • Assist outpatient bookings with processing new referrals via GP e-Referral system (ERS).
  • Registering patients and making outpatient appointments.
  • Ensure patient details are correct.

Job description

Job Title: Assistant Patient Pathway Administrator

Location: Churchill Hospital, OX3 7LE

Hours: 37.5 hours 8am - 4pm / 9am - 5pm - 3 days across Monday - Friday and Saturdays and Sundays 3 /4 weekends (Saturdays & Sundays paid at an enhanced rate)

Trust: Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Role type: Temporary for 3 months with possibility of becoming permanent

Duties required

  • Act as a first point of contact on reception to patients coming into the department.
  • Check patients in to their appointments and help them by answering any queries that they might have.
  • Work closely with the wider administrative team and clinical staff to ensure patients are admitted within local and national access targets, expediting appointments and procedures as required.
  • Assist the Outpatient bookings team with processing new referrals via the GP e-Referral system (ERS)
  • Registering patients
  • Making outpatient appointments and ensuring patient details are correct.

This role may require you to show evidence of vocational level 3 qualification or at least 2 years relevant experience.

  2. Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times
  3. A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation

You’ll have the following skills/experience:

  • Ability to plan and organise work to meet deadlines.
  • Strong Computer Skills
  • Organised and have the ability to coordinate and prioritise own workload
  • Excellent communication skills
  • NHS experience (desirable)
