A leading healthcare trust in the UK is seeking an Acute Medicine Consultant to provide clinical leadership in acute medical patient care. This role involves joining a team of Acute Physicians to manage a busy 58-bedded unit. The ideal candidate will be on the Specialist Register within 6 months and have experience in critical care. The position offers dual specialty opportunities and supports clinical interests.

To provide clinical leadership in acute medical patient care developing the interface between Acute and Emergency Medicine. You will be part of a dedicated team of Acute Physicians providing Consultant cover for our dynamic and well supported departments at UHNM.
A team of Acute Physicians with a budgeted establishment of over 17.50 WTE Consultants, providing Consultant cover for a dynamic and well supported 58‑bedded AMU with a projected 12‑hour length of stay and a 22‑bed Short Stay Unit (SSU). We have established an 11‑bed higher monitoring unit (HMU) which is integrated within the AMU and we have ultrasound facilities available.

University Hospitals of North Midlands has two sites: Royal Stoke University Hospital, located in Stoke‑on‑Trent, and County Hospital, located in Stafford. From these hospitals we provide a full range of general acute hospital services for people living in and around Staffordshire and beyond. The Trust also provides specialised services for three million people in a wider area, including neighbouring counties and North Wales.
Our specialised services include cancer diagnosis and treatment, cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, renal and dialysis services, neonatal intensive care and paediatric intensive care. We are recognised for our particular expertise in trauma, respiratory conditions, spinal surgery, upper gastro‑intestinal surgery, complex orthopaedic surgery, laparoscopic surgery and the management of liver conditions. The Trust has some of the most modern operating theatres in Europe.
