Are you an experienced practice accountant looking for your next career move with a well-established forward-thinking firm

Our client a respected independent accountancy practice in Sheffield is seeking a talented Senior Accountant to join their growing team and take ownership of a diverse client portfolio.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a supportive collaborative team whilst developing your technical expertise across a broad range of accountancy services for SME clients.

About the Role

As a Senior Accountant youll be responsible for managing your own portfolio of clients preparing high-quality accounts and tax returns and providing valuable advisory support. Youll work closely with partners and senior management with genuine opportunities to progress your career within the firm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation of statutory accounts for limited companies sole traders and partnerships
  • Completion of VAT returns and ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations
  • Managing client relationships and acting as first point of contact
  • Reviewing junior staff work and providing mentoring support
  • Liaising with clients on technical queries and providing proactive advice
  • Assisting with year-end planning and tax efficiency strategies
  • Supporting the wider team during busy periods
What Were Looking For
Essential Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years UK accountancy practice experience
  • AAT qualified (Level 4) or qualified by experience with demonstrable technical competency
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and VAT
  • Proficient in accountancy software (ideally Xero Sage or QuickBooks)
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build client relationships
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload effectively
Desirable
  • Experience with cloud-based accounting platforms
  • Part-qualified ACCA / ACA or studying towards qualification
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members
