Overview

Location: Edinburgh or London

Contract: 4-Month FTC

Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 Days on site)

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to lead a small team and take ownership of the Purchase Ledger within our Finance function. This role will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, overseeing day-to-day Accounts Payable processing and review, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all payments. A key focus will be the proactive management of aged creditors, using this insight to plan and coordinate daily payment runs in line with supplier criticality and the company’s cash flow requirements.

Reporting directly to the Group Treasurer, this position requires strong organisational skills, the ability to prioritise effectively, and a keen eye for detail. Success in the role will also depend on excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering consistently high-quality work.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities will include:

Purchase Ledger Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for suppliers, managing day-to-day communications, handling queries, and providing updates on payment status.

  • Oversee the accurate capture, coding, and processing of supplier invoices within the finance system.

  • Ensure appropriate supporting documentation is available and maintained (e.g., NAV entries and digital invoice copies).

  • Review, approve, and coordinate the distribution of supplier remittances as required.

  • Support the processing of travel and expense records.

  • Support and guide the Purchase Ledger Supervisor and Assistants

  • Perform supplier statement reconciliations to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.

  • Manage purchase order (PO) processes to ensure compliance, accuracy, and timely approvals.

Payments Management

  • Oversee the payments process ensuring compliance with group and local policies.

  • Monitor and prioritise supplier payments, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations and business-critical needs.

  • Liaise closely with procurement to ensure smooth operation of the order to cash process.

  • Maintain up-to-date records of invoice status to support accurate cash flow planning.

  • Prepare and execute scheduled payment runs, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policy.

  • Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting

What are we ideally looking for in a successful candidate:

  • Proven experience in an Accounts Payable role, including direct interaction with suppliers.

  • Previous exposure to the Financial Services sector (desirable, not essential).

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics NAV (preferred but not required).

  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to work confidently with financial data.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships both internally and externally.

  • A self-motivated, organised approach with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines.

  • A collaborative mindset, with a genuine interest in contributing to a high-performance team environment.
