Overview

I am working with a Top 20 Practice firm who are looking to strengthen their Accounts & Finance division through hiring an Assistant Manager. This is ideally positioned for someone with a strong background in a UK Accountancy Practice, preferably from another accounts outsourcing team, or otherwise an Auditor keen on transitioning towards Accounts.

You will play a key role in delivering outsourced finance services to a range of the firm’s clients, focusing on annual compliance, relationship management, and day-to-day financial operations. You’ll also contribute to the development of junior staff and collaborate across service lines to deliver a premium client experience, and work towards becoming a trusted client correspondent who will develop towards prospecting new business too.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support managers in delivering a high-quality, end-to-end outsourced finance service. This will be provided to clients across a range of sizes and sectors
  • Manage client relationships, acting as a trusted point of contact for finance-related queries and compliance matters.
  • Lead and supervise assignments, ensuring timely delivery of services such as bookkeeping, VAT returns, management accounts, and year-end financial statements.
  • Apply UK accounting standards (FRS 101, FRS 102, FRS 105 etc.) across a variety of industries and specialist sectors.
  • Oversee project management tasks including WIP tracking, billing, and workflow coordination.
  • Coach and develop junior team members, providing guidance, feedback, and support in technical and soft skill areas.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the UK to support cross-functional initiatives and contribute to business development efforts.
Background
  • ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP
  • Experience in a UK accountancy practice, ideally within an accounting advisory or outsourcing team
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and deliver compliance services
  • Experience supervising and mentoring junior staff
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Familiarity with cloud accounting platforms and finance automation tools
