Job overview

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and committed Clinical Psychologist or Counselling Psychologist to join our well-established Complex Psychological Interventions Service in Bristol. The post is based in Adult Mental Health Services in the Inner City and East Bristol team, and the successful applicant will support the delivery of psychological interventions in the Assessment and Recovery Team.

We are looking for applicants with a particular interest in working with people with a broad range of complex and enduring mental health difficulties across the lifespan, including older adults who are served within our ageless service. We are particularly interested in candidates with special skills and experience in CBT for severe mental health difficulties.

In addition, the successful candidate will lead the organisation and development of our established Staff Support Debrief Service for the community teams in Bristol.

As well as working closely within the teams, you will receive excellent support and supervision from more senior and well-established CPI members. There will be opportunities for continuing professional development and development of innovative research projects.

Main duties of the job
  • To provide highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy to patients and carers as appropriate to the service.
  • To provide highly specialist advice and consultation on clients’ formulation and psychological management to other non-psychologist colleagues.
  • To use highly specialist psychological knowledge and skills to contribute to the more effective management of patients by the various teams in the area and where appropriate outside of the area.
  • To lead the organisation and development of the Staff Support Debrief Service for the community teams in Bristol.
  • To clinically supervise/line manage trainee clinical psychologists, assistant psychologists, CAPs and less experienced psychology staff, and other professionals.
  • To contribute to audit, research, policy and service development within the areas served by the Complex Psychological Interventions Service.
  • To develop and deliver training in psychological therapies for multidisciplinary staff.
