This role offers the flexibility of connected-working and tasks such as monitoring regulatory changes and producing knowledge updates. Candidates must possess strong technical pensions expertise, be legally qualified, and have good analytical skills. This position supports various career paths in pensions law and offers bespoke work arrangements tailored to individual needs.
The role is a part‑time (three‑days‑a‑week) Knowledge Lawyer position within a highly regarded Pensions team, based in London with flexible connected‑working. The team advises employers, trustees and public bodies on all aspects of defined benefit, defined contribution and public service pension schemes, including risk‑reduction and risk‑transfer exercises, PPF assessment periods, insolvency‑related pensions issues, LGPS matters, pensions aspects of corporate transactions, restructurings, wind‑ups, emerging DC models and complex pensions litigation.
The Knowledge Lawyer will provide technically excellent, commercially focused knowledge support, working closely with the Pensions Knowledge Lawyer Director, partners, the wider Knowledge function and business services teams to ensure the team remains ahead of legal, regulatory and market developments.
Responsibilities include monitoring and communicating changes in pensions law and regulation, producing regular knowledge updates and internal briefings, supporting and delivering legal training, facilitating know‑how sharing, promoting the use of AI and technology, maintaining and developing high‑quality precedents, preparing content for client presentations and publications, responding to pensions law queries from across the firm and contributing to government consultation responses.
Candidates should have strong technical pensions expertise, be legally qualified with solid post‑qualification experience, and be able to present complex information clearly in writing and in person. The role requires a proactive, organised self‑starter with high technical accuracy, strong analytical skills and a collaborative approach. Applicants from private practice, in‑house, academia, existing knowledge roles or returning from a career break are all encouraged to apply.
There is genuine flexibility within this role, including remote‑working options and the ability to consider bespoke working arrangements to suit individual circumstances. Over recent years we have supported a significant number of pensions PSL moves, giving us a strong, current understanding of the market, both in terms of the flexibility employers are prepared to offer and the compensation packages typically available. We are well placed to guide candidates at every stage of their PSL journey, whether they are fee‑earners looking to take their first step into a knowledge role or experienced PSLs seeking greater progression, influence and long‑term career development.
