Job description

Grade: UE06 – £34,610 to £39,906 per annum

Location: CMVM / INCR – Edinburgh Clinical Research Facility

Contract: Permanent (Open‑ended)

Hours: Full‑time, 35 hours per week (part‑time and flexible arrangements considered).

The Opportunity

The Edinburgh Clinical Research Facility Genetics Laboratory requires a Senior Research Technician to work on projects providing a genetic analysis service to researchers. The successful candidate will join a team supporting the technical aspects of various clinical research projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation of sequencing libraries.
  • Running sequencing platforms.
  • Providing data reports and answering researcher queries.
  • Managing projects through the workflows.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Relevant work experience in technical and clinical governance roles.
  • Extensive knowledge of a range of genomic analysis techniques.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of DNA and RNA sequencing using Next‑Generation analysis platforms (desirable).
Your skills and attributes for success
  • In‑depth understanding of current genomic techniques and awareness of future industry developments and trends.
  • Ability to explain techniques and results to all levels of investigators, staff and laboratory visitors.
  • Ability to work independently and have project and people‑management experience.
  • Well‑developed interpersonal, communication and IT skills.

The salary for this post is £34,610 to £39,906 per annum.
