Flight Safety is at the heart of all ATR activities. The Flight Safety function is a transversal function relying on and influencing the resources of the business functions to achieve the AIR safety objective and launch safety initiatives. It is the Flight Safety Department’s mission to coordinate all actions related to Flight Safety and achieve the highest levels of flight safety performance for the ATR fleet.

Influence International Safety Community
Missions and Key Responsibilities (English)
  • Ensure the implemented processes are effective for the size and context of the ATR operation.
  • Ensure ATR meets regulatory requirements and expectations with regards to SMS and further develop it as part of the overall safety strategy.
  • Integrate the existing SMS structures in training, maintenance and evolving regulatory requirements.
  • In conjunction with the associated departments, implement and monitor the success of the agreed actions in line with the SMS principles of reactivity, anticipation and prediction.
  • Become within ATR and the wider Airbus community a recognized expert on SMS and recognized as such by our external stakeholders.
  • In response to SMS topics drive technical, operational and organizational improvements / solutions to address each SMS topic.
  • Assume the role of (Flight Safety Board) FSB secretary managing the quarterly FSB agenda, escalation process, actions launch and closure.
  • Maintain and grow the influence of the SMS network within the individual departments, continually growing and adapting the Flight Safety Culture (intranet e-learning dept meetings, dedicated presentations).
  • In coordination with the SMS representatives, lead and co‑ordinate investigation committee part 2.
  • Ensure / motivate a high level of sharing among the network of individual SMS representatives.
  • Provide a regular dashboard to the Flight Safety Officer & Flight Safety Board on the SMS topics.
  • Provide a regular dashboard to the Flight Safety Officer & Flight Safety Board on the identified safety threats and actions launched.
  • Share best practices with suppliers, authorities and customers during international forums and/or where needed in individual meetings.
  • Escalate identified safety threats to the ATR Flight Safety Officer where you anticipate a Flight Safety threat to the ATR fleet, our customers and/or personnel/passengers that is not sufficiently addressed by existing safety actions.
  • You have the option to escalate to the CEO in the event of unavailability of the FSO within a reasonable timeframe consistent with the threat.
  • Lead training and awareness sessions internally and potentially with suppliers and customers.
  • Support Product Liability awareness within the company.
  • Ensure the role of process owner of the Flight Safety Process within the QMS.
  • Ensure the role of Environment point of contact for Flight Safety in the frame of our ISO14000 certification.
Responsabilités principales (Français)
  • Veiller à ce que les processus mis en œuvre soient adaptés à la taille et au contexte d’ATR.
  • Assurer la conformité réglementaire SMS et le faire évoluer selon la stratégie globale de sécurité.
  • Intégrer les structures SMS existantes dans la formation, la maintenance et les exigences réglementaires.
  • Mettre en œuvre et suivre les actions selon les principes du SMS : réactivité, anticipation et prédiction.
  • Devenir un expert SMS reconnu au sein d’ATR, du groupe Airbus et auprès des parties prenantes externes.
  • Proposer des améliorations techniques, opérationnelles et organisationnelles en réponse aux sujets SMS.
  • Assumer le rôle de secrétaire du Flight Safety Board (FSB) : gestion des réunions trimestrielles, agenda, processus de déscalade, suivi des actions.
  • Renforcer l’influence du réseau SMS dans les départements pour faire évoluer la culture sécurité.
  • Coordonner les comités d’enquête avec les représentants SMS.
  • Encourager le partage d’informations entre les représentants SMS.
  • Fournir des tableaux de bord réguliers sur les sujets SMS et les menaces identifiées.
  • Partager les bonnes pratiques avec les fournisseurs, autorités et clients lors de forums ou réunions.
  • Alerter le Responsable Sécurité des Vols en cas de menace non suffisamment traitée.
  • Possibilité d’escalade au PDG en cas d’indisponibilité du FSO.
  • Animer des sessions de formation et de sensibilisation en interne et avec les partenaires.
  • Soutenir la sensibilisation à la responsabilité produit.
  • Être propriétaire du processus Sécurité des Vols dans le cadre du Système Qualité.
  • Être le point de contact Environnement pour la certification ISO14000.
About You (English)
  • Good technical knowledge of aircraft systems and flight operations.
  • Expert knowledge of SMS regulatory requirements.
  • Formal SMS education or associated training.
  • Knowledge in human factors.
  • Good level of understanding of an aircraft manufacturer’s organization.
  • Fluent in English and French (Italian is a plus).
  • But above all demonstrate a passion for Flight Safety.
