Supervise daily operation of the laundry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Laundry Managers are a vital part of the management of any facility. They must possess technical proficiency, assess methods and procedures, understand equipment and supplies, exercise good judgment on corrective programs, and determine the importance of divisional programs.
- The Laundry Manager is accountable to the Executive Housekeeper for the efficient daily operation of the laundry.
- Apply common sense and carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Address guest problems and requirements effectively.
- Oversee washing, ironing, dry cleaning, and storing of all laundry products.
- Ensure all equipment is operational and liaise with the Executive Housekeeper for timely repairs.
- Coordinate with divisions for proper linen sorting, ensuring they are free of garbage and sorted by color.
- Check finished products at each cycle end to ensure quality standards are met.
- Inspect dryers daily for lint buildup and proper temperature operation.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections to maintain optimal capacity and water temperature.
- Submit daily inspection reports to the Executive Housekeeper and First Engineer.
- Coordinate cleaning of non-logo uniforms between Linen Keeper and crew members, verifying items as bona fide uniforms.
- Report all laundry problems to the Executive Housekeeper.
- Oversee sorting and washing procedures and the timely distribution of linens to various departments.
- Coordinate washing schedules with the Cruise Division for costumes and special items.
- Set machine formulas and cycles based on linen type and soil level; work with Ecolab for calibration and maintenance.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment.
- Coordinate machinery maintenance and repairs, reporting malfunctions promptly.
- Manage chemical supplies within budget, submitting requisitions as needed.
- Ensure timely return of Top Suite items to guests, maintaining quality standards.
- Perform quality control checks on linens, towels, and robes for Top Suites.
- Review weekly laundry sales and revenue with the Executive Housekeeper, seeking opportunities to meet or exceed targets.
- Monitor financial budgets to ensure operational targets are met.
- Handle guest concerns to ensure maximum satisfaction.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Apply environmental policies concerning waste disposal and chemical use.
- Follow all SQM policies.
- Participate in emergency procedures, maintaining full physical capability to assist in life-saving drills.
Hiring Qualifications :
Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least three years of related experience or training in laundry operations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Requirements : Ability to read and interpret English safety, operating, and maintenance documents.
Physical Requirements : Must regularly stand, walk, handle objects, reach, talk, hear, and smell. May need to sit, stoop, kneel, or crawl in emergencies. Must frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
