W3 Professorship for Pest and Disease Forecast and Sustainable Control

The University of Bonn is an international research university with a wide education and research profile. The Faculty of Agricultural, Nutritional and Engineering Sciences at the University of Bonn invites applications for a full professorship at the earliest possible date.

The professorship will strengthen the Cluster of Excellence PhenoRob (www.phenorob.de) with expert knowledge on pest and disease forecasting with a focus on detection as well as treatment and expected impact on pest occurrence upon changing agricultural field setups and practices.

We seek an individual who has achieved international recognition and has strong expertise in different insect pests including forecasting models to predict the expected distribution of pests on the field to landscape scale. The research is expected to make pest forecasts and link them to the existing expertise in crop modeling and agricultural robotics in order to support the prediction of pest impacts and suggest measures to reduce negative impacts.

Teaching activities are expected in the existing but also new agricultural study programmes of the Faculty of Agricultural, Nutritional and Engineering Sciences. Teaching activities might include insect pests and their diagnosis, agricultural entomology, and forecasting models.
