In the Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mathematics at the Department of Computer Science, the following professorship is to be filled as soon as possible:

Position

W2–University Professorship (f/m/d) for Natural Language Processing

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the Department of Computer Science with a strong research profile in natural language processing.
  • Engage in acquiring and conducting third-party funding projects, such as DFG projects, and actively participate in proposals for collaborative and interdisciplinary research projects.
  • Collaborate within existing projects and research centers and leverage opportunities at the Software Innovation Campus Paderborn (SICP), the Heinz Nixdorf Institute (HNI), and the Paderborn Center for Parallel Computing (PC2).
  • Teach courses in data science within the degree programs of computer science and computer engineering; be willing to teach in German and English within 2 years of hire.
  • Participate in academic self-administration and contribute to the universitys strategic development.
  • Contribute to bold research ideas as part of Paderborn University's research ecosystem and high-performance computing resources.
Qualifications
  • Scientific qualification demonstrated by publications in internationally leading conferences and journals in natural language processing.
  • Experience with acquiring and conducting third-party funding projects (e.g., DFG projects).
  • Ability to participate in proposals for collaborative and interdisciplinary research projects and to engage in ongoing projects and research centers.
  • Strong commitment to teaching data science topics in undergraduate and graduate programs and to adapting teaching to German and English-language delivery within two years.
