THE SEARCH:

We are delighted to be retained by a leading mid‑market Private Equity firm to appoint a VP Finance for a rapidly scaling software business headquartered in Munich. The company has recently received significant PE investment and is entering an accelerated phase of organic and acquisitive growth. This is a critical No.1 finance appointment and the primary sparring partner to the CEO, responsible for shaping and leading a best‑in‑class finance function capable of supporting the next stage of expansion. The VP Finance will play a central role in driving strategic decision‑making, building financial infrastructure for scale, and ensuring the business is fully equipped to deliver against an ambitious value‑creation plan. This role is ideally suited to an experienced finance leader who has operated in high‑growth, Private‑Capital backed technology or software environments and is excited by building, optimising, and professionalising finance in a fast‑paced setting.

THE ROLE

• Lead and develop the full finance function, building teams, processes, systems, and governance frameworks required for scale.
• Act as the CEO’s key business partner, providing financial insight, challenge, and strategic support across all commercial and operational decision‑making.
• Build and implement best‑in‑class financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and KPI frameworks to support rapid growth.
• Drive the evolution of financial systems and reporting infrastructure, ensuring high‑quality, timely, and accurate MI for the CEO, Board, and PE investors.
• Oversee statutory accounting, tax, compliance, cash management, and treasury across international operations.
• Establish robust internal controls, risk management processes, and governance structures aligned with PE expectations.
• Ensure timely and accurate month‑end close and delivery of compliant group reporting.
• Manage multi‑currency consolidation of the Group P&L and Balance Sheet.
• Continuously enhance the management accounts pack to meet the growing complexity and analytical needs of the business.
• Ensure strong balance sheet discipline, including monthly reconciliations and rigorous financial controls.
• Oversee technical accounting matters including revenue recognition, intercompany management, equity/option schemes, and software‑related treatments.

THE REQUIREMENTS:

• Proven experience as a VP Finance, Finance Director, or Senior Finance Leader within a high‑growth software or technology business.
• Demonstrated exposure to Private Equity, ideally within buy‑and‑build or scale‑up environments.
• Strong technical finance pedigree, with experience building finance functions and implementing scalable processes and systems.
• International finance exposure and multi‑entity consolidation experience.
• A hands‑on, commercially minded leader who thrives in fast‑changing, entrepreneurial environments.
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to operate as a strategic partner to the CEO and Board.
