Job Description

In order to support Air Power Engineering, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Software Developer / Architect for embedded real time software in Avionics (d/f/m) (d/f/m)

We develop software for airborne mission systems and applications.

Your tasks and responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded avionics software for aerospace systems, also for combat air systems
• Perform assessment of user requirements and support customer discussions
• Develop AI and deep learning algorithms to improve system functionality, such as sensor data processing
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including hardware engineers, systems engineers, to ensure seamless integration of software solutions into avionics systems
• Ensure compliance with aviation industry standards (e.g., DO‑178C, DO‑254) and safety‑critical software development practices
• Conduct testing, validation, and verification of software to meet aerospace requirements
• Conduct HW/SW integration in complex hybrid environments

Desired skills and qualifications

• Master degree or Bachelor with 4+ years of specific experience in Design, develop, and maintain embedded avionics software for aerospace systems, also for combat air systems
• Proven experience in embedded software development for avionics or aerospace applications
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and/or Ada and real‑time operating systems (e.g., VxWorks)
• Proven experience in working in defence programmes with security classification
• Experience with AI/ML frameworks and deep learning techniques
• Familiarity with avionics standards (e.g., ARINC 653, DO‑178C) and safety‑critical software development
• English fluent, German would be a plus
