About the Company

My client is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager – Europe to join their growing global tax team. This position will be based in Germany and will primarily support the German operations, while also providing oversight and guidance for tax matters across our European entities.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in EU transfer pricing, a deep understanding of local and international tax regulations, and a proactive approach to compliance and planning. This role reports directly to the Tax Director based in the United States and will collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, and external advisors across Europe. The Senior Tax Manager will play a key role in managing tax risk, driving process improvements, and supporting the company’s continued growth in the region.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the corporate income tax compliance and reporting for Germany and other European jurisdictions.
  • Oversee quarterly and annual income tax provision processes in coordination with global tax and finance teams.
  • Monitor and manage transfer pricing policies and documentation across European operations, ensuring alignment with OECD guidelines and local regulations.
  • Support intercompany transaction reviews, transfer pricing audits, and local file/master file preparation.
  • Engage with local advisors and auditors to manage tax compliance and statutory requirements.
  • Assist with tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities across Europe.
  • Provide support for VAT and other indirect tax matters, working with external providers as needed.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities related to EU tax incentives and funding grants, working with internal stakeholders to drive value.
  • Collaborate on process improvements, technology enhancements, and tax risk management strategies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant tax experience, with a focus on European and German corporate taxation.
  • Strong EU transfer pricing experience and knowledge of OECD principles.
  • Strong knowledge of German tax law and US GAAP tax provision (ASC 740).
  • Experience with indirect tax (VAT) compliance.
  • Experience in multinational corporate environments, with ability to navigate complex organizational structures and cross-border issues.
  • Knowledge of tax reporting systems (e.g., OneSource, SAP,) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to influence across functions and cultures.
Required Skills
  • Experience with EU funding grants, including identifying and applying for tax-related incentives or government support programs.
  • Fluent in English; German language skills strongly preferred.
