About the Role

DoorDash is hiring an experienced Senior Counsel to join our dynamic legal team at a very exciting time for our expanding business. You will join the Product Legal team that supports both merchant- and consumer-facing products and initiatives for Marketplace, our core third-party delivery platform.

You'll have a broad range of responsibilities and will own projects that drive an immediate impact. You’ll provide guidance across a wide range of legal issues domestically and internationally, including consumer protection, competition, regulatory, and privacy. Your clients will include first-in-class product managers, operators, marketers, and engineers, among others. You’ll become an expert on our existing products and will partner with the business to problem-solve and help shape the development of new products that power merchant growth and delight our consumers.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide solution-oriented advice and legal direction to a wide variety of teams from the initial stages of project development to launch.
• Collaborate with business partners to effectively manage legal risks related to product, operational, and engineering initiatives.
• Independently develop practical guidance on issues relating to consumer protection, competition, privacy, unfair and deceptive business practices, and marketing.
• Work closely with other members of the legal team across commercial, litigation, corporate, employment, IP, and privacy to ensure your business partners receive holistic and effective legal guidance across disciplines.
• Serve as cross-functional connective tissue and help gain consensus across the non-legal teams you work with.
• Build playbooks and establish processes to help scale our advice as a legal team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years legal experience.
• Prior experience at an in-house legal department.
• Licensed to practice law in the U.S. state where you are located.
• Business-first mentality, strong legal judgment, and ability to make decisions in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.
• Skilled at managing a high volume of requests from a wide range of client teams, balancing competing priorities with limited direction.
• Ability to understand complicated areas of law and apply them to a complex business.
• Commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment and experience in DEI initiatives.
• Self-starter, intrinsically motivated, collaborative teammate.
• Interest in working on products that incorporate AI and leveraging AI tools to enhance work.

• Previous product counseling experience.
• Experience in the tech industry or the on-demand economy.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary ranges from $214,200 to $315,000 USD, localized per work location. Additional equity grants may be offered.
