Overview

Shopware is a leading ecommerce system that enables companies worldwide to scale quickly and efficiently in digital commerce. As a trendsetting open‑source solution, Shopware is already used by some of the largest European brands, retailers, and manufacturers in the B2C and B2B industries.

If you want to enable data‑driven decisions through modern data platforms, this is the right place for you. Join us and help take our BI landscape with Microsoft Fabric to the next level.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll be part of our Business Intelligence team, working closely with analysts and engineers on the design and evolution of our new data platform. At the intersection of traditional data warehousing and the modern lakehouse approach, you’ll help build a scalable, high‑performing, and user‑friendly data foundation for the entire company.

In this position, you'll work in a hybrid setup – combining remote work within Germany with regular on‑site presence at our office in Schöppingen. We’ll find a setup that suits both you and the team.

Key Responsibilities

You define and drive the engineering strategy for our modern data platform, ensuring that architectural decisions align with business goals and future growth.

You drive the migration of our on‑premise MySQL data warehouse to a modern, cloud‑based platform on Microsoft Fabric.

When developing and maintaining ETL / ELT processes, you rely on Python, SQL, and Fabric Data Pipelines.

By building and maintaining data models in dbt (data build tool), you ensure clean, versioned, and traceable transformations of raw data.

Well‑structured data modeling across different layers guarantees performance, quality, and transparency.

Working closely with analysts, you build semantic models that reflect the business context and provide the foundation for Power BI reports and stakeholder self‑service analytics.

Integrating new data sources and documenting interfaces contributes to data governance and transparency.

Within cross‑functional projects, you assess how new requirements impact our data structure.

Regular team updates help you share knowledge, promote transparency, and continuously improve our data platform.

What You’ll Bring to the Table

With several years of experience in data engineering and data warehousing, ideally in cloud environments, you bring the technical foundation to design scalable architectures.

Your strong command of SQL and Python enables you to build and optimize efficient data pipelines.

A deep understanding of modern data architectures helps you see the bigger picture and design sustainable solutions.

You have interest or first‑hand experience with Microsoft Fabric or related Azure services and are eager to apply this knowledge.

Experience with CI / CD pipelines and GitHub Actions is a valuable plus.

Thanks to your structured and self‑reliant approach, you keep track of complex projects and move them forward efficiently.

You combine communication skills with team spirit and enjoy sharing your knowledge openly.

Fluency in English (C1) allows you to collaborate effectively across teams. German is a significant advantage, but it is not mandatory.

Additional experience with modern data stack technologies, integrating new data sources, and an interest in scalable cloud architectures complete your profile perfectly.
