SAP FI Lead / SAP Finance Lead (Security & Defence Programme)

Location
- On-site / hybrid, depending on security requirements.
Security Clearance
- SC or DV Clearance (or eligibility to obtain), depending on programme needs. (EU / UK passport Holders)
12 months contracts + extension (3 years programme)
Remote working opportunity

National security clearance relevant to home country (e.g., Ministry of Defence , EU SECRET, NATO SECRET, or country‑specific equivalent) or eligibility to obtain.
Role
The SAP FI Lead will design and deliver the SAP Finance solution across a multinational European defence programme, ensuring financial processes support complex cross‑border operations, regulatory compliance, multi‑entity accounting, and secure financial management across Europe’s defence ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Leadership
- Lead the design and configuration of SAP FI modules (FI‑GL, AP, AR, AA, Banking) within a European, multi‑entity environment.
- Support European defence finance processes including:
- multinational budgeting
- cross‑border cost allocation
- multi‑currency management
- capital asset control across jurisdictions
- Develop and maintain finance solution architecture aligned with European defence regulatory frameworks.
- Guide the adoption of relevant S/4HANA innovations (Universal Journal, new Asset Accounting, Embedded Analytics).
Project & Programme Delivery
- Lead the SAP Finance workstream across all phases: gathering requirements from multiple nations, blueprinting, configuration, testing, deployment, and hypercare.
- Coordinate with cross‑country SAP teams, systems integrators, and technical architects.
- Produce high‑quality functional documentation compliant with European defence programme governance.
- Ensure seamless integration with CO, MM, SD, PM, HR, Procurement, and cross‑European shared services.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary finance solution lead for European defence stakeholders, government agencies, industry partners, and programme leadership.
- Lead workshops with multinational finance teams, engineering, procurement, and commercial functions.
- Manage dependencies and communicate design decisions across multiple European organisational structures.
- Present finance solution options and impacts to senior executives across member states.
Compliance, Security & Governance
- Ensure SAP FI processes comply with European financial standards, national accounting laws, and defence‑sector policies.
- Support compliance with:
- European public‑sector reporting requirements
- EU procurement and financial regulations
- multi‑country audit frameworks
- cross‑border data‑handling and privacy (GDPR)
- Collaborate with SAP Security/GRC teams on pan‑European SoD rules and role design.
- Support internal and external audits, programme assurance, and financial governance reviews.
Operational Support & Readiness
- Support migration of financial data across multiple European legacy systems.
- Lead FI‑related cutover planning across national entities and shared operational hubs.
- Provide hyper‑care oversight and support resolution of financial issues post‑go‑live.
- Promote continuous improvement aligned with long‑term European defence digital strategies.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years SAP FI experience, including complex multinational rollouts.
- Expert knowledge of FI‑GL, AP, AR, AA, Bank Accounting, and integration with CO.
- Experience working on European defence, aerospace, or government programmes.
- Strong understanding of multinational financial processes:
- multi‑currency
- cross‑border tax & compliance
- intercompany
- multi‑GAAP reporting
- Experience operating within secure, highly governed European environments.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across cultures and countries.
- Proven track record leading SAP Finance workstreams in large‑scale transformations.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with S/4HANA Finance, including ACDOCA, new Asset Accounting, and embedded reporting.
- Experience with EU defence programmes, NATO frameworks, or multi‑government consortia.
- Knowledge of European accounting standards, IFRS, and national GAAPs.
- Experience with SAP CO, PS, or defence project accounting.
- Familiarity with export controls, dual‑use regulations, and cross‑border defence compliance.
Qualifications
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, IT, or related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, etc.) advantageous.
- SAP Finance certifications preferred.
- Project management certifications (Prince2, PMP, Agile) beneficial.
