Overview

We are looking for a Risk Manager (m/f/d), based in Munich.

The Team

You will be part of the Enterprise Risk Management team which globally oversees the management of operational risks for Allianz Commercial and all its subsidiaries and branches. Each team member acts as the dedicated 2nd Line of Defense counterpart for different functions within Allianz Commercial, spanning areas such as HR, Accounting, and core business (UW, Claims). We share a passion for risk management to ensure consistency.

The Impact You Will Have

You will be responsible globally for ensuring qualitative risks across Allianz Commercial are adequately managed by the respective risk owners. This includes ensuring material risks are identified timely, assessed adequately, mitigated in line with the risk appetite, and reported to senior management. The role includes ownership of individual risk management processes end-to-end. You will report to the Head of Enterprise Risk Management.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that an effective risk management framework is in place for specific broader areas.
• Oversee that risks are managed by the 1st Line of Defense in line with risk strategy (e.g., by testing key controls).
• Interact with senior management of the business on risk management topics, including definition of risk mitigation measures.
• Manage Internal Control System related activities for functions in your area of responsibility.
• Governance, including implementation and maintenance of policies and standards.
• Coordinate the overarching Internal Control System framework.
• Report operational risk management topics to various bodies.

What You'll Bring to the Role

• Degree, preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics, or other analytical discipline (e.g., Risk Management, Actuarial Sciences, Finance).
• Strong Finance and Insurance know-how (ideally P&C) and understanding of complexities within an insurance group (consolidation processes, legal vs. management view).
• Expertise in qualitative risk management techniques including risk identification, assessment, analysis, and control.
• Experience working with regulatory requirements.
• Proficient IT skills in MS Office including VBA and relevant expert systems (preferably R).
• Outstanding problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complexity.
• Experience applying AI and ML to improve business processes and decision-making is highly beneficial.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders without authority.
• Ability to work effectively in an international and dynamic environment with intercultural skills.
• Self-motivated, result-oriented and independent; a strategic thinker with a track record of driving change.
• Fluency in English is required.
