Zusammenfassung

Eine internationale Hochschule in Hamburg sucht einen Forschungsmitarbeiter (m/w/d) für das Institut für Technische Mikrobiologie. Sie werden an der Synthese von Plattformchemikalien und der Überwachung von Biofilmen arbeiten. Qualifikationen

  • Abgeschlossenes Studium im Bereich Biologie oder Mikrobiologie.
  • Mehrjährige Erfahrung in Mikrobiologie und molekularer Biologie erforderlich.
  • Sehr gute Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift erforderlich.

Aufgaben

  • Synthese von Plattformchemikalien mit genetisch verändertem Cupriavidus necator.
  • Durchführung von downstream processing.
  • Betrieb eines Biofilmreaktors.

Scope

Full time, fixed term until February 28th 2029. We are an open and international institute. Together with one technician, around 20 scientific staff members, and a changing group of students, we conduct research and teaching in the fields of sustainable biotechnology, bio-based resources, and microbial wastewater treatment.

We place particular importance on involving all team members in the various workflows and decision‑making processes, and on fostering a collegial, respectful, and supportive working environment.

YOUR TASKS
  • Synthesis of platform chemicals designing/using genetically engineered Cupriavidus necator
  • Downstream processing of platform chemicals
  • Continuous operation of a biofilm reactor
  • Biofilm monitoring, analysis, and optimization
YOUR PROFILE
Requirements
  • Completed scientific university studies, in particular in biology, microbiology or comparable.
Required Knowledge And Personal Skills
  • Multiple years of work experience in microbiology and molecular biology (mandatory)
  • Strong expertise in working with microfluidic system
  • Excellent knowledge of (biofilm) imaging techniques, including fluorescence microscopy and OCT
  • Very good English skills, both spoken and written (B2/ C1)
  • Several years of hands‑on experience with Knallgasbacteria and downstream processing of synthesized products are desirable
