The Role & Opportunity
As the Regional Experience Design Director, Germany, you will be a visionary leader and the primary point of contact for regional clients, partners, and creators. You will build and mentor a high‑performing team and a partner network to define and deliver holistic, human‑centered experiences, from the first brand interaction to the lifelong journey with our products.
This is a strategic leadership role responsible for executing the principles of our culture and a design philosophy that spans our global enterprise, encompassing global OEMs, their product portfolios (concept to production), and progressive mobility services.
Key Responsibilities
- User Experience Planning, Design & Delivery: Oversee the planning, business strategy, incubation, design, testing, and delivery of new products, solutions, and services for the German auto & mobility markets. Contribute to a global POV on the future of intelligent, connected vehicle experience.
- Trend Sensing & Roadmap Development: Lead the design and maintenance of a blueprint of “What’s Next” by synthesizing industry trends, foresight planning, and consumer behavior.
- Research & Strategy: Establish robust research functions (qualitative and quantitative, contextual, lab‑based, etc.) to translate deep human insights into actionable design principles and solutions.
- Prototyping & Simulation: Lead the design and development of prototypes, POCs, MVPs, and Simulations to tell compelling stories, persuade, and secure stakeholder buy‑in.
- Cross‑Functional Advocacy: Partner with diverse groups of our parent company, KPIT, including Engineering, Developers, Regional Account Managers, and Marketing to embed user‑centric thinking throughout the product and service lifecycle.
- New Business Development: Support regional sales teams with new project pursuits, project proposal responses, new product demonstrations, client management, regional workshops, and industry events.
- Talent Development: Build, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of User Experience Designers, User Interface & Interaction Designers, Researchers, and Developers extending our start‑up culture of transparency, empowerment, respect, and collaboration.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years of strategic leadership in UX, product design, or customer experience, specifically within the automotive or global consulting sectors.
- Technical Mastery: Proficiency in digital design & communication tools, UX process and methods, design research, and the ability to oversee both physical and digital prototype development.
- Strategic Mindset: Exceptional systems‑thinking skills and the ability to balance high‑level creativity with technical feasibility and business acumen.
- Demonstrated Human Factors Experience: Comprehensive knowledge of physical and behavioural characteristics to design safe, intuitive, and desirable vehicle interactions.
- Communication: A master storyteller capable of articulating complex design concepts to influence various stakeholders and diverse global audiences.
- Regional Knowledge, Language & Expertise: Deep understanding of European automotive regulations, market trends, and cultural nuances. Must be a fluent German speaker.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or Ph.D. in HCI, Industrial Design, Design Research, User Experience, Service Design, or a related field preferred.
