A defence AI company in Berlin is seeking a Rapid Capabilities Engineer to integrate software into complex systems and engage with customers. The ideal candidate will have a degree in computer science or a related field, strong communication skills, and proficiency in back-end programming. Join us in tackling significant technological challenges in the defence sector while contributing to the protection of democratic societies.
Helsing is a defence AI company. Our mission is to protect our democracies. We aim to achieve technological leadership, so that open societies can continue to make sovereign decisions and control their ethical standards.
As democracies, we believe we have a special responsibility to be thoughtful about the development and deployment of powerful technologies like AI. We take this responsibility seriously.
We are an ambitious and committed team of engineers, AI specialists and customer-facing programme managers. We are looking for mission-driven people to join our European teams – and apply their skills to solve the most complex and impactful problems. We embrace an open and transparent culture that welcomes healthy debates on the use of technology in defence, its benefits, and its ethical implications.
Software only matters when it is actively being used to make a difference. As a Rapid Capabilities Engineer, you will be at the heart of this - taking state-of-the-art software and integrating it into complex systems, engaging with users, and building critical last-mile functionality. This is the proverbial 20% - the last stretch that makes all the difference.
Your work as a RCE will be critical to Helsing’s success. We are looking for energised engineers who understand where they can interface to get the most out of the product, what needs extending, what needs fixing, and what the future of the product should look like. RCEs live at the cutting-edge of the business, and they make the impossible seem possible.
In close collaboration with our product and engineering teams, you will discover and formalise customer requirements. You identify bugs and ship the latest features directly to our users. With your strong communication skills, you are eager to travel to customer sites and are not afraid of setting up user-interviews to deeply understand customer requirements. Nothing is impossible; you can build, patch, fix, and contribute to the key outcomes of the business.
Note: The above bullet points describe the ideal candidate. None of us matched all of these at once when we first joined Helsing. We encourage you to apply even if you believe you meet only part of our wish list.
Helsing is an equal opportunities employer. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability or gender identity. Please do not submit personal data revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, data concerning your health, or data concerning your sexual orientation.
