A leading international software engineering organisation is seeking a Program / Portfolio Manager to oversee multiple projects and build strong customer relationships. The position requires managing a portfolio valued at €2–3M annually, utilizing skills in large-scale project management and technical understanding. The candidate must be fluent in both German and English, with a strong ability to engage stakeholders while ensuring project alignment with quality standards. Remote and onsite hybrid working arrangements are available.
Our client, a leading international software engineering organisation, is seeking an experienced Program / Portfolio Manager to support and co‑lead a strategic customer account. This role is ideal for a delivery‑focused leader who can manage multiple projects in parallel, build strong customer relationships, and steer complex software‑hardware solutions to successful outcomes.
You will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of 3–5 concurrent projects, representing an annual delivery value of approximately €2–3M. Working alongside Project Managers and engineering teams, you’ll ensure consistent delivery quality, effective operations, and smooth communication across the account.
This position requires a strong blend of program management capability, technical understanding, and customer‑facing leadership. You’ll help shape portfolio strategy, support delivery governance, and act as a key partner to both the client and internal teams.
Oversee a portfolio of projects, guiding PMs and delivery teams to ensure alignment with scope, budget, timelines, and quality standards.
Maintain strong customer relationships, acting as a trusted partner and escalation point.
Build and evolve program structures, processes, and reporting to support effective multi‑project delivery.
Identify interdependencies across software and hardware components, ensuring smooth integration and timely risk mitigation.
Support contract management and ensure projects adhere to agreed contractual models.
Monitor financial performance and forecasting across the portfolio (€2–3M annually).
Drive improvements in delivery practices in collaboration with the PMO and engineering leadership.
Regular onsite presence at the customer’s Goettingen office (1 day per week) to strengthen communication, alignment, and trust.
Fluent German speaker with fluent English (essential for customer and internal leadership communications).
Experience managing large‑scale software delivery projects across diverse contract types (T&M, fixed‑price, milestone‑based, etc.).
Proven background overseeing programs, portfolios, or multiple projects running in parallel.
Solid technical foundation—enough to understand architectural dependencies, hardware‑software integration, and complex delivery workflows.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build long‑lasting client relationships.
Comfortable working in hybrid mode and travelling weekly to Goettingen.
Experience working in or with international engineering organisations.
Familiarity with PMO frameworks, delivery governance models, or scaled delivery environments.
Exposure to complex product ecosystems or multi‑vendor delivery setups.
Competitive compensation:Up to 95K gross per year
