Responsibilities
- Enforcement of safe systems of work and holding those below in the management structure accountable for their health and safety performance.
- Provision of safe equipment, safe working environment and ensuring all employees/contractors are provided with and wear the appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Ensure employees are adequately informed, instructed, trained and supervised to safely carry out work for which they are engaged.
- Ensure a safe working environment, strive for zero recordable injuries in compliance with internal policies and external legislation, through the delivery of key enabling activities (Near Misses, Safety Observations, timely completion of actions).
- Ensure that safety and environmental incidents are fully investigated and the appropriate countermeasures established.
- Supervises staff to include hiring, training, evaluating performance, providing compensation recommendations, and determining disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Manage a team to ensure production operations are carried out efficiently while ensuring internal and external customer requirements are satisfied.
- Promote a continuous improvement culture and high morale; show consistent improvement in safety, quality, service and cost.
- Support Operational Supervisors/Team Leaders with their direct reports to manage their teams and execute performance management where appropriate.
- Deliver the production plan, on time and to the correct product quality.
- Work with the Quality team to investigate quality incidents and track action completion; improve equipment and processes to eliminate quality loss; deal with product rework in a timely fashion.
- Ensure appropriate and accurate performance data is collated; manage manufacturing, filling and packaging efficiencies to meet budget and drive improvements through waste reduction.
- Continually reduce waste and strive for a zero waste loss culture; ensure accurate stock management; ensure adequate manning levels to achieve factory objectives.
- Manage performance within the team using Sherwin-Williams policies and procedures to achieve optimal efficiency and operational performance.
- Ensure Supervisors/Team Leaders and Operatives are actively involved in improvement initiatives; prepare reports and participate in management and routine meetings.
- Liaise with other personnel and departments to ensure smooth running of Operations on site; perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Degree or relevant experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills; proven track record in managing change within a diverse environment.
- Articulate communicator (written and verbal); ability to build and manage relationships.
- Enthusiasm and patience to develop others; values strong teamwork.
- Numerically astute with the ability to analyse data and drive appropriate action.
- Professional and positive attitude with a high standard of work ethics; strong customer focus.
- Passionate about sustaining standards as a base for improvement; capable of producing dynamic and creative but appropriate improvement proposals.
- Proficient at producing and presenting proposals with objective analytical skills and business acumen; hands-on approach and continuous improvement mindset.
- Self-motivated; advanced PC skills; strong financial and commercial awareness; excellent Excel skills.
