Job Description

Procurement Business Partner, ACE Markets: Germany, Austria, Switzerland

This role sits within Gilead’s Global Procurement Organization ("GPO"). The GPO team partners with stakeholders across Gilead’s organization to deliver meaningful value by re-shaping our supplier strategies and relationships for all indirect procurement spend.

In this role, you will be primarily responsible for partnering with key stakeholder groups who work at Gilead’s German Affiliate. Once established in your role, you may also be asked to provide sourcing support on a limited basis to stakeholders in additional smaller markets, for example, Austria and Switzerland. Your involvement will be restricted to overseeing the delivery of high-value sourcing projects in these smaller markets.

This role supports the development and implementation of both global and local Procurement strategies that deliver value to Gilead’s businesses in Europe.

In this role you will liaise with Global Procurement Category Managers who develop procurement strategies for globally managed categories of spend. With your knowledge of Affiliate requirements, you will support the development of these global category strategies as well as their implementation, driving local adoption and adherence to them.

You will also be required to optimize spend with local suppliers that is not managed globally. Working collaboratively with Affiliate stakeholders, you will implement sourcing strategies that deliver additional value or greater efficiency to the markets you support.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a "strategic thought partner" to the stakeholders and markets this role supports.
  • Annually identify a "pipeline" of opportunities to optimize spend with suppliers. Engage early with Affiliate teams to review planned spend and align on priorities.
  • Partner with Global Category Managers to develop global category strategies (including the capture of local requirements) and drive stakeholder adherence to these strategies.
  • Identify preferred suppliers for key categories in close collaboration with Affiliate stakeholders and Global Category Managers.
  • Develop sourcing strategies for locally managed spend, in collaboration with Affiliate stakeholders. Maintain a holistic view of Affiliate demand and supply options.
  • Conduct RFPs, negotiate price and contract terms to implement agreed sourcing strategies for locally managed categories of spend.
  • Provide regular updates on delivery to GPO and senior Affiliate leaders for the supported markets. Proactively highlight issues that require awareness or attention.
  • Promote stakeholder adoption of standardized procurement processes. Inspire stakeholders to realize the value that good sourcing practices bring to the business.
  • Participate in Procurement Team meetings to learn about GPO goals, processes and best practices.
Reporting line

This role is part of a team within GPO that partners with teams located at one or more Gilead Sales & Marketing offices within Europe, Australia or Canada (referred to collectively as "ACE" markets). This role reports to the Procurement Director for ACE markets.

Experience Requirements
  • 6+ years professional work experience plus a BS/BA (or equivalent), or 4+ years professional work experience plus a MA/MS or MBA (or equivalent) in a corporate environment.
  • Experience working in the Pharmaceutical/Healthcare industry is desirable but not essential.
  • Fluency in English and German is required for this role.
  • Extensive RFP, negotiation and contract management experience.
  • Experience managing and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
  • Prior experience in roles requiring cross‑functional collaboration. Experience working with Marketing or Medical teams is advantageous but not essential.
  • Able to demonstrate effective business partnering capabilities with strong organizational skills.
  • Clear communicator. Able to influence without authority. Good at "selling" to others.
  • Leadership presence/gravitas. The job holder will be required to present to leadership teams.
  • Analytical, with good attention to detail.
  • Hands‑on approach. Proactive with strong drive.
Gilead Core Values
  • Integrity (Doing What’s Right)
  • Inclusion (Encouraging Diversity)
  • Teamwork (Working Together)
  • Excellence (Being Your Best)
  • Accountability (Taking Personal Responsibility)
