Overview

Aurora Storage is a highly available, self-healing, and six-way replicated storage service purpose-built for cloud databases. Aurora’s separation of compute and storage enables offloading critical functions such as transaction redo logging, crash recovery, and backup/restore. Aurora Storage also enables customer-facing features facilitating data recovery, logical replication, and improved performance. Examples include Aurora Global Database, Backtrack (rewinding a database cluster to a specific point in time), Continuous Backups, and Fast Clones. Utility Computing (UC) AWS UC provides product innovations—from foundational services such as S3 and EC2—to consistently released new innovations that continue to set AWS’s services apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Key responsibilities
  • You will design large-scale and resilient storage systems, innovate, and support new architectural approaches.
  • Build systems with global scale, high performance, and strong integration with related services.
  • Translate customer needs into workable technology solutions with pragmatic vision.
  • Serve as a hands-on principal engineer, delivering detailed technical work and high-level architectural designs.
  • Own the architecture for the Aurora storage layer, including existing and future components.
  • Share updates with AWS leadership, secure buy-in, and coordinate with stakeholder teams to maintain industry leadership.
  • Act as the default mentor for engineers on the team and promote best practices through engineering leadership.
  • Immerse in the team’s software development lifecycle to deliver hands-on impact, striving for simplicity with creativity and high judgment.
  • Lead by example on the most challenging design and development problems to deliver exceptional results aligned with customer needs and business vision.
