Role Description

As a PhD candidate in Data Science, you will work with complex datasets from our research domains and perform quantitative analyses.

Your responsibilities will include developing innovative algorithms and models, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and presenting and publishing your research results.

These full‑time PhD positions are based at one of the 18 Helmholtz Research Centers in Germany, with partial remote work possible depending on the project.

Technical Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Data Science or a related field, and a strong motivation to pursue a PhD.

Data Analysis

• Experience in analyzing large datasets, data visualization, and applying machine learning techniques.

Programming

• Solid programming skills in Python, R, or comparable tools.

Project Management

• Ability to plan and carry out research projects independently, and experience with scientific publishing.

Communication

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, and the ability to present complex topics clearly and effectively.

Desirable

• Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration and a strong commitment to addressing socially relevant scientific challenges.
