Mechanical Design Engineer - DE - Westhausen

In this position, you will design innovative mechanical components and plastic housings for hand‑held power tools. Your tasks include creating CAD models with Creo, selecting materials and manufacturing processes, collaborating with internal teams and suppliers, and supporting prototype development and validation. If you have experience in plastic housing design and a structured, proactive working style, this role offers an exciting opportunity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design innovative mechanical components and plastic housings for hand‑held power tools
  • Create CAD models and technical drawings with Creo
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as product management, manufacturing, assembly, and quality assurance
  • Select suitable materials and manufacturing processes for plastic parts (injection molding, 3D printing, etc.)
  • Support external service providers and suppliers in the areas of toolmaking and series production
  • Perform tolerance analyses, FEM calculations, and design reviews
  • Perform virtual assembly (DFA) to optimize assembly and service
  • D‑FMEA
  • Support and manage buildup and validation of prototypes
Critical Skills & Qualifications
  • Degree in mechanical engineering, plastics engineering, or comparable qualification
  • Several years of professional experience in the design of plastic housings, ideally in the field of power tools
  • Experience with plastic‑compatible design and tool design
  • Very good knowledge of CAD systems and technical documentation
  • Very good German and English skills
