Overview
Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity for a Large Project Office Tender Manager, with our Grid & Power Quality Solutions and Service business. This role involves managing our Bid Managers in the Large Project Office for our European Hub, focused on bidding for large-scale AC projects such as offshore. The position is pivotal in driving strategic initiatives and securing high-value contracts in the AC offshore sector, supporting growth in energy transition across segments such as hydrogen, data centres and e-mobility.
Location: Remote with some travel in Europe

Responsibilities
- Effective Communication: Demonstrate excellent communication skills to convey ideas clearly, challenge constructively, and influence at all levels. Build strong networks and foster open dialogue.
- Collaboration and Team Building: Cultivate interdependent relationships and facilitate team dynamics across the region.
- Strategy Formulation: Develop tender strategies and execution plans with capture teams that align with customer expectations and needs, including commercial setup, internal setup, and value proposition.
- Tender Planning: Coordinate the preparation of the contract and bid documents, ensuring appropriate approvals are obtained throughout the process.
- Tender Team Management: Provide guidance and support to ensure efficient and on-schedule task completion. Facilitate collaboration with key stakeholders and oversee the quality and timeliness of deliverables.
- Resource Planning: Plan the resources required to execute business strategies, including hiring and staffing for opportunities.
- Risk and Opportunity Management: Identify and quantify technical and commercial risks and opportunities during the tender phase and execution. Develop mitigation actions and transfer learnings to new opportunities.
- Cost Management: Oversee target costs related to the tender strategy, ensuring competitiveness, and monitor cost-related aspects during the tender process.
- Negotiation: Support Bid managers and participate in technical and commercial negotiations when required, ensuring a positive customer experience throughout the tendering and sales process.
- Customer Focus: Ensure a positive customer experience by providing necessary support during negotiations and meetings with customers.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure adherence to established processes and procedures and manage documentation of deviations and clarifications. Establish best-in-class processes along the Tender stream, from Sales handover to execution handover.
- Onboarding: Lead the onboarding process, ensuring new employees in the department are integrated into the team and understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Performance Management: Conduct annual appraisals, set targets, and discuss development plans and career aspirations with employees.
- Learning and Development: Identify learning and development needs and plans for employees and ensure relevant actions are taken to meet business strategy and targets.
Your Background
- An electrical or business degree to support experience and the ability to manage complex projects and lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven experience in managing direct reports and leading large-scale project bids, preferably in the offshore sector.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions and drive continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and persuade customers and stakeholders at all levels.
