Junior Professorship (W1) in Theoretical Physical Oceanography
Kiel University and GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel invite applications for a Junior Professorship (W1) in Theoretical Physical Oceanography. The position is initially appointed for 3 years, with the possibility of extension up to 3 additional years following positive evaluation. The role is embedded within GEOMAR's research unit "Theory and Modelling" in the "Ocean Circulation and Climate Dynamics" division.
The successful candidate will lead research in ocean dynamics, focusing on large-scale ocean circulation, ocean mixing, inverse methods, and data assimilation. The position aims to enhance existing research capacity and foster collaboration within Kiel Marine Sciences.
Responsibilities include conducting internationally recognized research and teaching in theoretical oceanography at undergraduate and graduate levels, with lectures in English and the potential to teach in German within three years.
