Export Clerk (Air Freight & Sea Freight)
Main Responsibilities
- Acceptance of customer orders, including the review of documents in accordance with regulations and internal procedures
- Handling of export shipments from start to finish, primarily air freight, but also sea freight (FCL, LCL)
- Booking and reserving the required capacities with partners
- Export customs clearance (e.g. ATLAS, AES; customs goods, special customs procedures, etc.), where applicable
- Planning and scheduling of collections and transport in line with the relevant Incoterms
- Preparation of all relevant shipping documents
- Invoicing customers, as well as performing cost and price calculations
- Shipment tracking, identifying any deviations, and developing customer-focused solutions in the event of incidents
- Handling of complaints and claims for damages
- Communication with customers, customs authorities, partners, carriers, and overseas offices in Japanese, English, and German
Ideal Candidate
- Successfully completed an apprenticeship as a freight forwarding and logistics services clerk, or possess equivalent qualifications
- Professional experience in export operations, with a preference for air freight
- Knowledge of export customs clearance processes is preferred
- Proficient in standard MS Office applications, as well as Atlas and CargoWise
- Strong commitment, a sense of responsibility, and the ability to work independently
- Excellent organisational skills, flexibility, strong communication and teamwork abilities, along with a customer- and service-oriented mindset
- Fluent in spoken and written Japanese, English, and German
