Job Title: HVAC Technician / Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) L3

Department: Base Operations

We are seeking a highly skilled HVAC Technician who will also serve as our on‑site Level 3 Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO L3). This dual role is responsible for the technical performance of all HVAC systems and the implementation and enforcement of our comprehensive safety program. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in HVAC coupled with a strong, unwavering commitment to workplace safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform hands‑on installation, maintenance, and repair of various heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems; diagnose complex issues and ensure peak efficiency.
• Implement and maintain the project's Site‑Specific Accident Prevention Plan; conduct daily safety inspections and audits.
• Lead site‑wide safety orientations, toolbox talks, and other training sessions to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
• Act as primary point of contact for all safety‑related matters; ensure compliance with OSHA standards and all other federal, state, and local regulations.
• Investigate all accidents, injuries, and near‑misses; document findings, recommend corrective actions, and submit reports to management.
• Maintain meticulous records of all HVAC work and all safety‑related activities, including training, inspections, and incident reports.

Desired Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational program, technical school, or associate degree in HVAC or related field is a significant plus.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years as an HVAC Technician with a proven track record; at least 3 years in a dedicated safety role required.
• Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigerants, and tools; comprehensive knowledge of OSHA 1926 Construction standards and EM 385‑1‑1 requirements.
• Leadership: Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills; self‑starter capable of enforcing safety rules while maintaining a collaborative environment.
• Certification: Valid driver’s license; EPA Section 608 certification mandatory; OSHA 30‑hour Construction or General Industry certification with proof of an L3‑level safety course completion.

Physical Requirements

• Lift up to 75 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
• Stand, walk, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
• Operate in high and low temperatures, loud noise, dust, fumes, and confined spaces.

Special Qualifications / Requirements

• Successfully pass a federal, state, or local government's background investigation.
