Head of Labour Law
Location : Stuttgart, Germany
Our client is seeking a senior-level Labour Law expert to take full ownership of employment legal matters in Germany. This is a high-impact, individual contributor role with no team management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve in a leadership role with full responsibility for the Labour Law department in Germany.
- Act as the primary legal expert on German labour and employment law, providing authoritative guidance across the organisation.
- Lead and manage one team member within the labour law function, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and supporting their professional development.
- Advise senior leadership and HR on complex employee relations matters, compliance, contracts, and dispute resolution.
- Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts and works council agreements.
- Oversee external legal counsel and manage employment-related litigation and regulatory matters.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable German labour laws, offering pragmatic, risk-based legal advice.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments and translate them into actionable business strategies.
- Represent the company in interactions with works councils, regulatory bodies, and other external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Fully qualified German lawyer (Zweites Staatsexamen) with 7–10+ years of experience.
- Strong expertise in German labour and employment law (including works councils).
- In-house or top-tier law firm background preferred.
- Business-savvy, pragmatic, and confident working independently.
- Fluent in German and English.
