Head of Bike Mechanics
Location: Berlin, Germany · E-mobility / e-bike workshop
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and driven Head of Bike Mechanics to lead and grow our workshop team. In this leadership role, you will take full responsibility for the technical quality, operational efficiency, and team development ensuring that every e‑bike leaving your workshop meets high standards of safety, performance, and craftsmanship. You’ll play a key part in scaling operations, shaping workshop processes, and building a skilled, motivated mechanic team in a dynamic and growing e‑mobility company.
Core Responsibilities
- Recruit, build, and lead a high‑performing team of bike mechanics.
- Assign tasks, manage workloads, and ensure team motivation and cohesion.
- Oversee inspection, repair, refurbishment, and quality control of a wide variety of e‑bike models from routine maintenance to complex repairs.
- Design, implement and maintain a comprehensive training program for new and existing mechanics to elevate technical skills, efficiency and safety standards.
- Manage spare parts and consumables inventory: track stock levels, ensure timely availability of parts, and optimize supply usage for efficient operations.
- Continuously evaluate and improve repair processes, workshop workflows, and service quality using both mechanical expertise and, where relevant, hardware/software tools to streamline operations.
- Mentor and develop junior staff and Team Leads providing guidance, feedback and performance management to build a reliable and skilled team.
- Ensure all work meets the company’s quality and safety standards, and that every refurbished or repaired bike is delivered in excellent condition.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 7+ years of hands‑on experience as a bike mechanic, with strong expertise in complex mechanical issues and e‑bike systems.
- At least 2 years experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity managing technical staff, ideally in a bike workshop or e‑mobility environment.
- Proven ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced, growing operational setting.
- Strong inventory management skills and familiarity with workshop logistics, parts procurement and consumables tracking.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills capable of motivating and developing a team, giving clear feedback, and maintaining cohesion.
- Fluency in German and good command of English; additional languages are a plus.
- Passion for bikes, e‑mobility and sustainable transport committed to quality workmanship and continuous improvement.
