My client are seeking two highly skilled Grid Connection Managers to work on large-scale projects in the renewable energy sector, specifically wind energy. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced professionals who want to make an impact and contribute to cutting-edge projects. The company are a global IPP, but the bulk of the company is based and operates in Germany as this is where they were established. They have significant financial backing, as well as a large portfolio of grid-connected projects already.

Role Overview:

The Grid Connection Manager will focus on the technical aspects of grid connection, specifically within the renewable energy sector. You will work directly with grid operators, managing the interface between their renewable energy projects, including wind, and the grid. This role requires strong electrical infrastructure expertise, and the ideal candidate will have previous experience working on projects that connect renewable energy to the grid. While project management experience is valuable, the role focuses more on the technical, electrical infrastructure side rather than design.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee grid connection processes for renewable energy projects, with a particular focus on wind.

• Work closely with grid operators to ensure compliance with grid connection requirements and regulations.

• Liaise with internal teams to ensure seamless integration of renewable projects into the grid, ensuring all technical, operational, and regulatory aspects are met.

• Focus on electrical infrastructure, troubleshooting any technical issues related to grid connection.

• Provide technical support and guidance on grid connection specifications, ensuring projects meet necessary electrical and operational standards.

• Collaborate with external stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies, to ensure all grid connection activities align with project goals.

• Occasional site visits to monitor project progress and resolve on-site technical challenges (ad hoc).

• Manage the technical aspects of grid connections with a commercially minded approach, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulations.

Key Requirements:

• 6+ years of experience in grid connection or electrical infrastructure, ideally within the renewable energy sector (wind experience highly preferred).

• Strong technical understanding of electrical infrastructure, including grid connection processes, but no design experience required.

• Experience working with grid operators and a deep understanding of grid codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

• A background in electrical engineering or comparable mechanical engineering experience.

• Strong problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills.

• Commercially-minded with an ability to manage complex technical issues within a business context.

• Must be based in the northern region of Germany or willing to relocate.

• Ability to travel for occasional site visits (ad hoc).
