An international renewable energy organisation is looking for an experienced Global External Communication Manager to lead its external communications strategy across Europe and beyond. This permanent position offers the chance to shape how the company presents itself to the world—through media, digital channels, events, and brand initiatives. The role is ideally based in Hamburg, though other European locations may be considered for the right candidate.

Develop global communication strategies that shape industry perception
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering clear, consistent and high-impact external communication. From CEO visibility and media relations to project storytelling and content development, you will work to strengthen the company’s brand and reputation in a fast-evolving sector. This role involves close collaboration with public affairs, market leads and technical teams to ensure communication aligns with business goals and market realities.
Key responsibilities
External Communication and Messaging
  • Develop and implement a global external communications strategy
  • Define and align key messages across markets and projects
  • Lead executive and CEO visibility through LinkedIn, media outreach and industry events
  • Oversee corporate social media, including content planning and performance tracking
  • Report on media engagement and digital communication metrics
Project and Market Communication
  • Work with local teams to build project visibility strategies
  • Support the development and localisation of press releases and editorial content
  • Ensure local achievements are reflected in global messaging and channels
Media and Press Relations
  • Maintain relationships with key journalists and media platforms
  • Manage press enquiries, interview coordination and media briefings
  • Draft and distribute media releases and supporting materials
  • Monitor and report on media coverage and trends
Event Strategy and Participation
  • Identify key events for participation in partnership with public affairs and commercial teams
  • Manage speaking opportunities and sponsorship evaluations
  • Oversee logistics, booth presence, messaging and preparation for speakers
Brand and Marketing Support
  • Lead the development of visual assets and marketing materials such as brochures, videos and presentations
  • Ensure brand consistency across platforms, regions and business functions
  • Collaborate with external agencies to evolve brand identity and communication tools
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Align messaging with public affairs, business development and project stakeholders
  • Work with internal teams to ensure communication reflects project developments and technical accuracy
  • Uphold brand guidelines and communication standards across the business
What we’re looking for
  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience in external or corporate communications, ideally within the energy, infrastructure or related sectors
  • A strong background in media relations, PR strategy and brand communications
  • Proven ability to manage social media channels and create content that supports digital storytelling
  • Experience delivering international campaigns and communicating across diverse markets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to shape clear, consistent messaging
  • Fluency in English is essential; an additional European language—ideally German or French—is highly desirable
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail, with the ability to balance multiple priorities
  • A collaborative and solution-oriented mindset, confident working across cultures and functions
