Director, Regional Data Center Operations - MEU

Based in Germany, this role will oversee critical infrastructure powering AWS services across the Middle Europe region, managing capacity planning, financial performance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive safety culture and security initiatives across all regional data center facilities.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies that align with AWS's global standards while addressing regional requirements.
  • Oversee capacity planning, delivery, and growth strategies to meet customer demand.
  • Direct engineering operations across multiple infrastructure types (Colocation, Hybrid, Build-to-Suit).
  • Manage complex multi‑stakeholder coordination requirements with internal teams, vendors, and local authorities.
  • Champion inclusion, diversity, and equity initiatives within the regional organization.
  • Implement sustainability programs and ensure environmental compliance across all facilities.
  • Oversee regional financial performance, budget planning, and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement in operational metrics, efficiency, and service delivery.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including business partners, vendors, and local authorities.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data center operations, infrastructure management, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of people management experience leading large, diverse teams.
  • Proven track record of managing complex operational environments at scale.
  • Experience with capacity planning and infrastructure growth management.
  • Strong financial acumen with budget responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic operational plans.
  • Experience working with cross‑functional teams in a global organization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field.
  • Experience working in European markets with understanding of local regulations and business practices.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices and environmental compliance in data center operations.
  • Track record of implementing innovative operational improvements and driving efficiency.
  • Experience managing diverse infrastructure types (Colocation, Hybrid, Build-to-Suit).
