About the Role

We are supporting a well-established Data & AI consulting organisation based in Germany, working with clients across multiple industries on advanced, production-grade AI solutions.

In this role, you will design, build, and deploy Generative AI and NLP systems that solve complex, real-world business problems. You will work closely with customers and internal teams, taking responsibility as a developer, expert, or technical lead, depending on the project context.

The position combines hands-on technical depth, client-facing responsibility, and mentoring, with strong exposure to modern NLP and LLM-based architectures.

Your Responsibilities

• Design and implement Generative AI and NLP systems optimised for performance, latency, cost, scalability, and complexity
• Work closely with customer stakeholders and internal teams throughout project delivery
• Contribute as a developer, expert, or Technical Lead across diverse NLP use cases, such as:
• Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and knowledge management systems
• Agent-based architectures and multi-agent workflows
• Fine-tuning and optimisation of language models for domain-specific tasks
• Guide and mentor less experienced team members, providing technical leadership and constructive feedback
• Support multiple projects as a subject-matter expert to solve complex technical challenges
• Design and implement robust, scalable ML pipelines following modern MLOps LLMOps best practices across cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Contribute to internal product development and the evolution of the AI service portfolio
• Support proposal development and handle technical communication during pre-sales and acquisition processes
• Stay up to date with the latest developments in NLP, Generative AI, tools, frameworks, and research, and apply them pragmatically to customer solutions

Your Profile

• Strong background in machine learning and deep learning, with a focus on transformer models, large language models, and Generative AI
• Several years of hands-on experience with production-ready ML frameworks (e.g. PyTorch)
• Practical experience with common NLP and LLM tooling, including:
• LLM APIs and inference platforms
• Frameworks for prompt orchestration, agents, and pipelines
• Vector databases, embeddings, and high-performance inference
• Dataset creation, evaluation, and deployment workflows
• Hands-on experience with agent frameworks and typical LLM-based workflows such as:
• Conversational AI
• Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
• Information extraction
• Tool calling and LLM-based evaluation
• Solid understanding of advanced approaches such as Agentic RAG, Graph-based retrieval, multi-agent systems, text-to-SQL, or code retrieval
• Experience with fine-tuning, post-training, inference optimisation, and PEFT methods
• Ability to write clean, performant, and maintainable code and deploy AI systems into production
• Experience with cloud environments and MLOps workflows (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Strong communication skills and confidence when interacting with both technical and business stakeholders
• Structured, reliable, and quality-focused working style
• Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites within the DACH region
