Summary

Ainsworth, a subsidiary of GDI, Vancouver Island is seeking to hire a Journeyman HVAC/Refrigeration Technician to join our growing team. Ainsworth, a subsidiary of GDI, is a Canada-wide company that leads in the building systems industry. We provide a full range of services including: Electrical, Building Automation, Card Access/Security and Mechanical Services.

Responsibilities

1. Represent Ainsworth, a subsidiary of GDI in a professional, courteous and customer service oriented manner on each and every call, you are a proud ambassador for our company.
2. Read, interpret, create and maintain drawings and specifications.
3. Install air conditioning, heating, and related equipment and components.
4. Overhaul and service air conditioning, heating units and systems.
5. Repair, replace and adjust worn or broken parts on condensers, compressors, and water and vacuum pumps.
6. Repair and adjust valves, piping connections, fittings, and couplings.
7. Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with heating and air conditioning units and systems.
8. Install motors, thermostats, and humidistats.
9. Correctly instruct customers on proper care and maintenance.
10. Supervise and coordinate activities of assigned apprentices.
11. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all modern equipment and regulations.
12. Frequently seen equipment brands and equipment such as Aermec, Multistack, EngAir, VRF systems, Refrigeration Racks, Clever Brooks, Viessmann and IBC among others.
13. Service area of Vancouver Island with home base in the central island.
14. Participation in an alternating On Call schedule to maintain critical services after hours.
15. Interpret company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
16. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
17. Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations.
18. Adhere to the Company’s Quality System operating procedures.
19. Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
20. Provides support and backup for other administrative duties as requested.

Qualifications

1. Journeyperson with Gas B, GAS A Ticket preferred.
2. FSR preferred.
3. High School diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from a certified college.
4. A current driver's license.
5. A valid and up to date Certificate of Qualification.
6. Knowledge and skill of tools, equipment, and materials and practices of the trade.
7. Knowledge of applicable HVAC/R codes, standards, and regulations.
8. Knowledge of HVAC Controls.
9. Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
10. Skilled in both verbal and written communication.
11. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
12. Outstanding customer service skills.
