Reporting to the Manager, Professional Services Projects, the Project Analyst – Sustainability and GHG Reporting will play a key role in supporting the implementation of project IGNITE deliverables, including emissions calculations, reporting, and decarbonization strategies. This contract position works closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution. Additionally, the role involves assisting in the management of government‑funded projects and contributing to the overall success of ECO Canada’s Professional Services offerings, such as Life Cycle Assessment.

All activities will be geared to implementing project‑related activities and identifying new opportunities through market research, networking, and lead generation for growing ECO Canada’s Professional Services offerings.

While each member of ECO Canada has individual responsibilities, ECO takes a team‑based approach. Everyone is encouraged to take ownership of their ideas and to see them through to completion, collaborating with key influencers as required.

This is a remote, 5‑month full‑time contract position, with a 3‑month probationary period upon the start date.

Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation of climate‑related projects focusing on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions tracking, reporting, and reduction strategies.
  • Conduct detailed emissions calculations using recognized methodologies (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO 14064).
  • Analyze project data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for emissions reduction and sustainability improvements and contribute to the development of net‑zero roadmaps, decarbonization plans, and climate adaptation strategies.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide analytical support for grant applications, funding proposals, and climate‑related certifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of key initiatives, measurable outcomes, and associated targets.
  • Assist in developing and updating program templates, procedural documents, client‑facing reports, marketing materials, and organizing training, as well as workshops and events.
  • Contribute to outreach efforts to increase program participation and awareness of project resources, training, and events.
  • Research and explore new program concepts, business opportunities, and partnerships to support ECO Canada’s strategic goals.
  • Actively explore and expand ECO’s outreach in new markets, both nationally and internationally.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., GHG Inventory, ISO 14064, ESG reporting) is an asset.
Experience
  • 2–5 years of experience in environmental analysis, sustainability reporting, or climate strategy development, preferably within project‑based environments.
  • Knowledge of ESG principles and sustainability standards, LCA, and Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
  • Understanding of climate change policies, net‑zero frameworks, and environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in GHG emissions calculation methodologies (e.g., GHG Protocol, IPCC Guidelines).
  • Familiarity with carbon accounting software (e.g., SimaPro).
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with MS Office, particularly with Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven ability to write and edit technical documents (proposals, reports).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team‑building skills, with expertise in outreach, training, and event planning, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast‑paced environment. Proactive and self‑driven, with the ability to work independently while ensuring team alignment.
  • Fluency in French is an asset.
Required Skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and desire to connect with people in working in all areas of the environmental sector.
  • Great attitude and ability to maintain control while coordinating activities and balancing multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Great telephone and email communications skills.
  • Desire to work in a results‑focused environment.
  • Motivated self‑starter with a strong desire to learn and a willingness to adapt to a variety of situations.
