Your Opportunity: Want to work in Mental Health and Addiction? We are currently looking for a Mental Health Aide to join our team located in EMHT at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. Our programs are dynamic, fast-paced, and patient/family centered, where all members of the interdisciplinary teamwork within the collaborative care (CoACT) framework. Reporting to the Unit Manager and working under the direction of nursing, the psychiatric/mental health aide performs activities that support meeting the personal care needs and comforts of patients in accordance with patient care plans and hospital policies and procedures. This includes but is not limited to assisting in the provision of routine care to meet patient hygiene, nutrition, vital sign monitoring mobility, recreation and safety needs. You will also assist in the maintenance of a safe environment for patients & families, staff and visitors. Off campus patient escort duties may be assigned. Essentially, you will be supporting nursing and other clinical staff to carry out quality, evidenced based care. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Mental Health Aide, you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team to provide a welcoming and safe care environment. You will assist in the provision of direct patient/client care as delegated in a person-centered, recovery oriented and safe manner. In this position, you will assist and / or promote independence to patients/clients in completing activities of daily living as well as assisting other health professionals with providing treatments and observing and reporting relevant patient/client information to professional staff. You will assist new patients/clients and families with orientation, and assist in the general support of the work area.
